The English Literary Association of J. J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous),

Pudukkottai, organized an Extension Activity titled “Elevating English Abilities” at 11.00

a.m on 21 st January 2026. The programme was conducted at Panchayat Union Primary

School, Lembalakudi, Pudukkottai, with the objective of improving Basic English Language

skills among primary school students.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Ms. S. Selvi, Head, Department

of English. The event was coordinated by Mr. R. Sivakumar, Ms. V. Visalatchi, Ms. R.

Komalavalli, and Ms. M. Durgadevi, whose dedicated efforts ensured the success of the

programme.

The main aim of the extension activity was to enhance listening, speaking, reading,

and vocabulary skills of young learners and to create awareness about the importance of

English in education and daily life. The faculty members and student volunteers adopted

interactive and child-friendly teaching methods such as storytelling, picture-based learning,

rhymes, and simple conversation practice.

The students actively participated in Pronunciation Drills, Basic Sentence Formation,

and Fun Learning Activities. These activities helped to reduce hesitation and encouraged the

students to speak English confidently. To appreciate the students’ efforts, the best performers

were awarded with prizes. The programme created a joyful learning environment and

motivated students to develop interest in English.

The school authorities and teachers appreciated the initiative taken by the college. The

programme concluded around 1.00 p.m successfully, benefiting both the school students and

the II P.G volunteers. Overall, the extension activity strengthened community engagement

and fulfilled its educational objectives effectively.
