The Women Empowerment Wing

Vision

WEN's vision is to develop more confident female leaders of color to be equipped and passionate about leading organizations, businesses, schools, and agencies domestically and internationally. We work to contribute to a society where women leaders of color will no longer be viewed as the exception to the rule but as relevant assets and necessary additions to organizations globally.

Mission

Our mission is to attain gender-equality in a democratic Palestinian society, to which end we focus our efforts on promoting the social, educational, economical, and political development of Palestinian women and girl's, including advocating for women's rights, eliminating discrimination against women including GBV, advancing women's capacities and leadership skills, promoting their participation in the decisions that affect their lives, and amplifying their voices for peace and security at the national and global levels.

Objectives of Women's Cell

• Establish a multi response system of services for women protection's in the agencies which is affordable and appropriate to the needs of women and accessible to them without any hindrance.
• To create an environment of gender justice where men and women work together with a sense of personal security and dignity.
• To create awareness amongst students about the issues related to the youth girls in particular.
• To disseminate knowledge about rights and laws related to women.

Activities of WEW

• The Women Empowerment Wing has joined with National Social Service have arranged a special camp from 04/02/20 to 10/02/20. In this, Dr.K.Uma, Head, Department of Management Studies has given a talk on "MagalirMunetrathirkuThonduNiruvanangalinPangu" and Dr.Anithrani, Director, KarpagaVinayaga Institute of Managent has delivered a speech on "ThikketumOlikkatumPennium" for Girl Students.
• The Women Empowerment Wing has organized a one day Awareness Programme on "Behavioural Change for Better Health: Nutrition & Hygiene" on 23/01/2020 at RamanathanChettiar Higher Secondary School, Nachandupatti. In this Programme, the first technical session Ms.M.Ranjani, Assistant Professor, KarpagaVinayaga College of Nursing, Pudukkottai spoke on the topic "Importance of Personal Hygiene" and the Second technical session Dr.M.Poornima, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, J.J.College of Arts and Science(A), Pudukkottai was given a speech on "Nutrition : A Dietary Advice".
• The Women Empowerment Wing and National Social Service was jointly organized an Awareness programme "Hello Police" for Girl Students on 11/12/2019. In this Programme Mr.Manoharan, Inspector, Thirumayam, Pudukkottai was talk about how to use "KavalanAPP".
• The Women Empowerment Wing will organize a one day Porgramme "Adolescent Awareness Programme of Health, Hygiene and Nutrition" on 30.09.2019. in this the First session Dr.R.AbiramiKarpagam, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Infertility Consultant, Shree Meenakshi Multi Speciality Hospital, Pudukkottai was given a talk on "Mentural Hygiene Awareness". And the Second session Prof.S.Sumithra, Principal, J.J.Institute of Nursing &KarpagaVinayaga College of Nursing, Pudukkottai was given a talk on "A Wholistic Approach to Adolescents".
• The Wing has submitted a Proposal for National Conference on Women Empowerment to ICSSR, New Delhi. The date of Proposal fall on July 2018.
• Ms. S. Kanitha, Head, Department of Biochemistry and Ms.P.Priyadharshini Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology attended the UGC sponsored seven day workshop on "capacity Building of Women Managers in Higher Education" at Barathidasan University, Khajamalai Campus), Trichirappallli from 07th May2 018 to 13th May 2018.
• The "Orientation for Gender Studies"was held on 23/02/2018 for final year Under Gradutae students, Dr.N.Manimekalai, Director and Head, Department of Women Studies, Bharathidhasan University, Trichirappalli interacted with students on the issues facing women.
• On 29/11/2017 an essay competition was held for Girl students in the topic "Legal Rights for Women". The best three essays were sent to the Department of Women's Welfare through the Joint Director to Collegiate Education, Trichirappalli.
• The Women Empowerment Wing has organized a Awareness programme on "Gender Equity" by Dr.N.Manimekalai, Director and Head, Department of Women Studies, Bharathidhasan University, Trichirappalli on 21/03/2017.

Functions of WEW

• Regular Counselling is given to Women Students on Health and Social issues.
• Along with KarpagaVinayaga College of Nursing, Sivapuram, Pudukkottai, a training programme was organized on Disaster Management. Competitions were held like Mahendy and Floral art.
• The Wing organizing Cultural Programmes regularly for Girl students for College Day, Sports Day and Women's Day.
• Cultural programmes were organized for girl students on the College Day, Sports Day and Women's Day.
• Along with the KarpagaVinayaga College of Education, Sivapuram, Pudukkottai, Competitions were Conducted likeMahendy and Floral art.
