Our Department was established in June 2007. It offers two Programmes
Since inception, the Department was following the Curriculum drafted by the parent University, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli and after the grant of Autonomy in 2012 the Department followed the syllabus which is framed by the Board of Studies of the Department, duly approved by the Academic Council and Governing Council. The syllabus is thus far revised 03 times keeping in mind the need of the Local, National and Global requirements for a computer graduate to employ himself in a software industry.
The student enrollment in the Department is always on the high with all the seats filled up in B.C.A with a yearly intake of 180 students and ours is the only College offering M.C.A in the district of Pudukkottai.
The Department is housed with 02 Computer Laboratories of 120 systems with the latest configuration, equipped with all the necessary academic software's. There is a dedicated smart classroom and 02 conference halls for the teaching-learning process using ICT Methods. The faculties in the Department are well qualified satisfying the qualification norms of the U.G.C with all the faculties completing M.Phil, 04 Faculties completing Ph.D and 04 Faculties qualified with TNSET/NET with good number of teaching experience with them. The Department faculties have published more than 70 research articles in U.G.C approved journals, attending Conferences in various reputed Colleges and Universities. The faculties attend in-house Faculty Development Programme, FDP'S and workshops organised by other institutions and Universities. The Department has a Department Library with 242 books available for the immediate use of the students. The students of our Department emerge consistently as University Rank Holders both at the B.C.A and M.C.A level. Besides good in education, the students of our Department are equally good in Cultural, Sports and also in extracurricular activities. The Department organizes yearly once, "CAIT - A one day Intercollegiate Technical meet" since 2010 to groom the managerial skills of the Department students and also to create a chance for the other College students to show case their talents. The Department also organizes invited lectures, Workshop and Conferences to expose the students to the technological development around the globe through is "COMAP Association".
The Department has an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with "Pace Academy, Trichy" to train and complete the Software Application Practical of the B.C.A students within the institution itself and the students of M.C.A visit reputed institutes in Chennai, trichy, Coimbatore and Madurai to complete their academic projects in the thrust areas of Network Security, Software Engineering, Data Mining, Web Mining and Web Designing.
Our Department is credited with the "Earn While You Learn Scheme" in which the students computerize the records of Government offices, sister concern and other offices for which they are paid based on the number of records they computerize. The Department as a part of its extension activity trains the employees of Government sectors like Nurses, Police men, Agricultural officers, etc. The Alumni of the Department are almost well settled in top Software Industries all over the world, in Banks and also in other government positions.
As a best practice, the Department maintains Gender Equality and Equity.
As a unique practice, our department maintains "Late Register" to monitor and reduce the regular late comers to the class. The Department also conducts "Remedial Courses" for the students who appear for the instant examinations.
