The Silver Jubilee of J.J.College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Sivapuram, Pudukkottai, was celebrated with colourful joy and gaiety on the morning of Friday,4th January,2019.
Hon’ble Shri.P.Chidambaram, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Former Union Finance Minister, Government of India, was the Chief Guest. In his special address, he asserted the importance of Arts Colleges in developing the mind of man. He pointed out that knowledge alone cannot make a man perfect. Men should have sympathetic heart towards his fellowmen. Such a compassionate heart can be developed only by studying Arts subjects like history, Philosophy, tradition, Culture, Sociology, etc. So there should be Arts Colleges everywhere for holistic development of men. Even the well known international fame Oxford and Cambridge remain institutions of Arts. Concluding his address, he wished the J.J. Institution to celebrate Jubilee of later periods of 50 years and 100 years.
Shri Ambesh Upmanyu IPoS, Post Master General, Central Region, Tamilnadu, while felicitating the function, paid glowing tributes to teachers equating them with God as the Upanishad says Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheswaraha. He called the teachers “the founding stone of the society”.
The Postal Department brought out a special Cover with the inscription:
J.J.College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Sivapuram – 622422 in Pudukkottai district, started in the year 1994, is celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 2019. The College Management believes in value based education through student centred teaching and learning nurturing intelligence and creativity along with knowledge and information leading to holistic development of the students studying in the institution. This special cover is issued to commemorate the silver jubilee celebrations of the College.
The Special Postal cover was released by the Postmaster General and it was received by the Chief Guest, The silver Jubilee Magazine was released by the Chief Guest and it was received by Hon’ble Shri.S.Regupathy, Founder, Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust, Former Minister, M.L.A. Thirumayam Constituency.
The Chief Guest gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations.
Both Teaching and Administrative Staff who have put in more than 10 years of service in the institution were honoured by the Founder.
Students of various Programmes entertained the audience with cultural activities consisting of song, dance, mime, etc.
Dr.Kavitha Subramanian, Trustee, Karpaga vinayaga Educational Trust, welcomed the gathering in poetry also.
