J.J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) Pudukkottai, has been started in the year 1994, at Sivapuram, the outskirt of Pudukkottai with a great vision of giving light in the lives of the learning aspirants who were financially poor and downtrodden. When higher education was considered to be an unreachable horizon for the poor and socially suppressed at that age, the philanthropists of the trust of J.J. College made it possible with great effort and vision. The Department of Computer Science was started in the year 1994 with B.Sc. Computer Science; M.Sc. Computer Science was started in 2000. The upgradation of the department as PG and Research was attained in 2002 as we introduced M.Phil in that year and Ph.D. was introduced in 2013.
The Department of Computer Science is well recognized for teaching and research. It has 6 energetic and dedicated faculty members, among them 3 have completed Ph.D., 3 with SET. It produces professional academicians who will be able to hit and solve real time problems in application area as well the technological issues using Embedded Methods, Web Applications, Fuzzy Techniques, Artificial Intelligence, Compilers Design and Hardware Trouble Shooting. It also helps the students of other discipline to learn the Windows Based Concepts, Internet and Web Oriented Concepts and also gives them the exposure of majority computer related concepts.
The department also offers a research plunge to the budding researchers through M.Phil. Computer Science by encouraging them to attend Conferences, Seminars and the other such learning quorums and also to publish review based papers in their research area. We also offer a concrete research based platform to the aspirants of Ph.D. The thrust areas of research are Data Mining, Ad hoc Networks, Image Processing, Big Data, Cloud Computing and also the blooming trends. State level, National and International Conferences, Seminars and Workshops are also being conducted periodically for the giving an exposure to the post graduate students and the research scholars and make them steer up their research in the right direction through getting experts’ opinion.
Our graduates find good employment as developers, team leaders, software experts in Multinational companies, industries and they shine well in teaching and learning sectors too.
Computer Science is an internationally recognized area of higher education and also an alternate course for medical science and engineering. It provides the young minds the basic knowledge to understand the realm of computers and takes them to the touch the horizon of research.
In the under graduate level we train all the essential fundamental courses like Programming in C, C++, Java, Visual Basic, .Net and Web Development Tools, Photoshop and Microprocessors in classrooms and laboratory and also the concept based courses like Data Based Management Systems, Computer Graphics, Data Structures And Algorithms and Hardware Trouble Shooting which offer them the exposure to solve program based solutions to problems.
In the post graduate level it offers main line papers like Web Design, Compiler Design, Design And Analysis Of Algorithms, Network Security, Digital Image Processing, Grid Computing, Cloud Computing , IoT and the other ones. This makes the post graduate students to expertise in computer related areas and also to aspire about research in their future.
