Department of Hotel Management and Catering Science established in 1994. We are the pioneer of Bharathidasan University offering this course in U.G. Level. We will lead industry requirement through the provision of Hotel industry Skills development, Operational exposure, Managerial competence and a Strategic outlook. It is to prepare our students, highly motivated professionals and industry oriented specialists which will allow them to make a fast start in their careers in the Hotel business.
The skills of the students can be related to Food production, Food and Beverage service, Front office operations and Housekeeping operations. Apart from that, the course is also focuses on developing personal skills of the students. An aspirant with a good personality is always preferred in the industry.
Hotel Management as a field requires aspirants to possess good communication skills as well as impressive personality. Due to Globalization the Hotel industry is growing with leaps and bounds. Some common Hotel Management subjects that candidates are taught include Food production, Food and Beverage service, Front office operations and Housekeeping operations etc. On the other hand, our Department taught Tourism Management courses as Skill Based Electives to develop the additional skill for Hotel Management students of our College. Apart from these, this programme also aims to train the students in Accounting, Personnel Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Organisation Beheviour etc. which courses require the Hotel Management students for effective Management. Entrepreneur Development course help the entrepreneurs to enhance their organizing and managerial abilities so that they can run their enterprise efficiently and successfully so our department also offer the course Entrepreneurship development. We are not only producing employees we also making the employers by the way of offering this course. Hotel Hindi is also taught the students of our Department motivate our students to work all over India.
Addition with that regular curriculum, we are regularly organizing various students related activities like Special lecture Programme, Quiz programme, Webinars by the way of inviting eminent industry personalities those who are all working in Industry all over the World. So students are highly motivated when they interact with professionals from the industry.
Practical work can in fact facilitate learning in the classroom. Using a practical activity can help structure a lesson and improve engagement and knowledge retention. This is particularly relevant in practical activities. So we are giving more importance for practical classes. We are having the following laboratories.
Apart from the basic task of Teaching, our faculties play an important role in developing students in their respective fields. Our Department is having industry experienced faculties as well as they are having more experience in the field of Teaching.
Our Department is having the good quality projector system which is used to support the teaching facilities. So they can deliver their knowledge effectively. Every faculty is having their own E-content for each and every subject which is used to improve the understanding of the students.
One of the important highlight of our Department is that our Department maintains good relations with the industry. This will help us to provide 100% Training and Placement for our students all over India.
One of our major strength is our Alumni. They are in good position in Hotel industry around the World. They are working in various countries like France, U.S.A., Canada, Singapore etc. Many of our Alumni are working in Cruise liners, with the help of them. We are train our students according to the latest requirement of the Industry
