Department of Mathematics

Mathematics provides the basic knowledge for understanding the world and lends precision to supremacy of mathematics over other sciences in its exactness. Our Department of Mathematics was established in 1994, the year the college started functioning. Totally 22 faculties in the department out of which 3 faculties qualified with Ph.D., 2 qualified with SLET and 4 qualified with both SLET and Ph.D. Also 4 Ph.D. scholars are working under 2 research guides and 548 students are studying various programme of the department. • Diploma Course in Actuarial Science - 2019

Three PG students passed SET examination in the year 2017. Our students secure university rank every year, also they actively participate in all the competitions conducted in intercollegiate level and secured various prizes. In 2017, they win overall runner championship at intercollegiate meet held in Bishop Heber College, Trichy. They also participated in sports particularly in swimming and athletics secured prizes in district level and state level. Students of the department got placement in various government sectors such as postal, police etc., and private sectors.

RESEARCH

The department is active in research in most areas of pure and applied mathematics, including Fuzzy Algebra, Topology, Graph Theory and Fuzzy Optimization Techniques. Above 50 Research Papers were published by the faculties in both national and international level.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Under HILBERT CLUB 8 Special Lectures, 1 Workshop and 1 National conference were organized by the department. Fund was received from TNSCST to organize the two day National Conference on "Recent trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics" - NCRTPAM 2018.

BEST PRACTICES OF THE DEPARTMENT

• Math Rangoli, Wall Designing, Current Affairs, IQ Questions and Mini Speech are practised regularly.
• Assignments allotted to the students are based on University Questions, Two Mark Questions, Application on Courses and Formula.
• Our method of teaching is based on Models, Charts, PPT Presentation, Chalk & Talk Method and ICT tools.
• Home test, Slip test and Unit test are conducted in regular intervals.
