The English Literary Association of J.J College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) Pudukkottai organised a Special Lecture on "New Horizons on ELT" at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday 07.03.2023. Dr.S.Sivaraja, Assistant Professor, PG and Research Department of English, Poompuhar College , ( Autonomous ) Mayiladuthurai District was the Resource Person.

He outlined the New Horizons in ELT and pointed out that English is not only an Inter-national language, but also a global language .We can see a strong link between dominance and cultural power in languages. English, as a language became famous because of its powerful base, whether political, economic or military. He also stressed, ELT in India is vibrant and dynamic today. The context of the whole teaching paradigm has changed totally. He also spoke about the need of ELT, and underlined the relevance of the correspondence courses in PGCTE and PGDTE run by EFLU , Hyderabad (formerly it was known as CIEFL). He wanted all the young post graduates to complete these courses after their B.Ed. He answered the queries raised by the students and staff.

Earlier, Ms. S.Selvi, HOD of English welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person. Ms. T.Nandhini, III B.A English proposed the vote of thanks.
