The Sumner’s club of Biochemistry, J.J college of arts and science(Autonomous), Pudukkotttai celebrated the National Science Day on 28.02.2023. The celebration started with the auspicious Tamil Thai Valzhthu. Dr. J. Parasuraman, Principal, inaugurated the event. Dr. S. Kanitha, Head of the Department of Biochemistry welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. Kavitha, Managing Trustee, KarpagaVinayaka Educational Trust delivered the Presidential address. Dr. S. Manivannan, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli was the chief guest.
National Science Day is celebrated throughout our country in commemoration with the discovery of the Raman effect by Sir C. V. Raman the Nobel laureate. In the Department of Biochemistry as part of the National Science Day celebration various competitions were organized like the essay writing, slogan writing, pencil art, face painting, photography, rangoli, fireless cookery and quiz. Students took part in the competitions with great enthusiasm. All the competitions focused towards the theme of the National Science Day, 2023 "Global Science for Global Wellbeing". The students were made to understand the importance of science in the day to day life of each and every one. Also the key role played by the new technologies in the development of betterment of human life on this planet.
The chief guest Dr. Manivannan, enlightened the students regarding the recent development in the field of science. The significances of various discoveries and inventions in the field of science has made human being to lead a ease life. He motivated the students to think beyond the books and try to transform the knowledge gained by them for the benefit of mankind.
Each and every discovery and invension has to solve the existing problem which we face in our life. The resource person encouraged the students to ask plenty of questions among themselves which will help them to attain a depth of knowledge in the field of science which in turn will lead to plenty of marvelous things to happen on this earth. Latter the chief guest clarified the queries put forth by the students.
