A two day international conference on Global contemporary Issues in Business and I.T (CIBI’ 18) was organized by the PG and Research Department of Commerce, JJ College of Arts and Science (Autonomous),Sivapuram, Pudukkottai on Thursday and Friday, 30th and 31st August 2018. Delivering the inaugural address, Dr.S.Kavitha Subramanian, Trustee, Karpaga Vinayaga Educational institutions logically developed business from local level to regional, national and international and finally to global levels. She stressed the need for correct decision making in the field of business.
In her special address in the inaugural session, Dr.Nithya Ramachandran, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Studies, IBRA college of Technology, Sultanate of Oman, expressed her wish that Indians should be developers of technology and not merely its users, so that India would become richer by revenue. She elevated the subject of Commerce to Himalayan heights stating it embraces various aspects of business like marketing and accounting. She called for the updating of all technological details on the part of students. She then addressed the first plenary session on ‘Emerging Trends in Business, through Information Technology. She described in detail the growth and development of technology which is of great use for mankind. Technology is for man. It is customers who dictate technological changes. Business people should have that in mind. Only then any business will prosper.
Welcoming the audience, Dr.J.Parasuraman, Principal quoted an important maxim in the field of business, “All business activities start and end with customers”. He narrated the problems- social, ethical and labour- faced by business men in the past then in 1990s it was globalization, for the past two years it is digitalization. At present environmental problem finds its place in business. The conference like this would try to find out answers and solutions to all those problems prevalent in business. Dr.Adaekalavan, Head, Department of Commerce proposed the vote of thanks in the inaugural function.
Participants from various colleges presented papers on different subjects in the afternoon session.
The second plenary session was addressed by Dr.Amilan, Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, Karaikkal campus, Pondicherry University on “Transforming India into cashless economy- Issues and Implications. He dwelt in length on how India can be changed into a digital economy without money in the form of cash is exchanged.
