The Wilmut Club and Sumner’s Club of the Departments of Biotechnology and Biochemistry, J.J. College of Arts and Science, Pudukkottai organized and celebrated a vibrant inter-collegiate Science event ‘BIOSPARK 2K19’ on Wednesday (14.08.2019).
Mime, dancing, turn coat, quiz, rangoli, face painting, cooking, making art from wastes and poster presentation formed part of the event in which nearly 236 Participants from 12 colleges in and around Trichy, Pudukkottai and Thanjavur participated. The event highlighted that it is not just winning that counts in the inter-collegiate competitions, there is a large emphasis on participation.
Earlier, the event started at 10.00 am in the College Gallery Hall with an overwhelming warm welcome address by Dr. G. Manigandan, Head, Department of Biotechnology, followed by lighting of the lamp by Dr. Kavitha Subramanian, Trustee, KarpagaVinayaga Educational Trust, which marked the official beginning of the event and she was also highlighted the importance of smart work and hardwork by giving excellent examples. Prof. Palaniappan, Controller of Examinations, emphasized the need to conduct such brainstorming contests to bring out the hidden talents of the students. He also highlighted that innovation and creation are the two important tools for the development of students.
The overall trophy was bagged by Bishop Heber College, Trichy. The runner up trophy was won by Srimad Andavan College of Arts and Science, Trichy. The winners were awarded with trophies and certificates by the Chief Guest Dr. S. Sridharan, Ex Controller of Examinations and now Visiting Faculty, Department of Biotechnology, Bharathidasan University, Trichy. BIOSPARK 2K19 had an exciting and memorable end with the valedictory address by Dr. Sridharan who highlighted the importance of motivation in every one’s life to be successful by quoting many real life examples, followed by the vote of thanks by Dr. Kanitha, Head, Department of Biochemistry and gifting a plant sapling to the chief guest.
