The Wilmut Club of Biotechnology, from the P.G & Research Department of
Biotechnology, J.J. College of Arts and Science, Pudukkottai conducted an intra-
departmental drawing competition for the students in view of “International Day against
Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on 26.06.23 to create awareness among the students
about drugs and their illegal usage. The competition was inaugurated by the Head of the
Biotechnology department and Assistant Professor Dr. G. Manigandan. The event was co-
ordinated by the staffs of the department. A total of 42 students actively participated in this
competition.

The students of the department eagerly took participated in the event wherein
various painting types like, crayon painting, water colour painting, acrylic painting, oil
painting, etc. were used. The students displayed different creative ideas through their art
work which revealed many problems of the society, family and individual, due to drugs.
During the event, awards and certificates were given to the students for their participation
in the competition.

Dr. S. Bharathiraja, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Visual
Communication, judged the event and selected the winners.

Earlier, Dr. Kavitha Subramanian, Secretary of the college, emphasized the
importance of the day and mentioned that the college had initiated several programs
focused on developing scientific understanding and innovation. The Principal of the
college, Dr. J. Parasuraman, told that along with keeping pace with the technology,
students have to take part in many such events through which they can develop their skills.
