Student Seminar On George Orwell and his Works






The English Literary Association of J.J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous),Sivapuram, Pudukkottai, organised a ‘Student Seminar On George Orwell and his Works’ by 10.30am on Monday,26.06.2023.The session was inaugurated by Ms S.Selvi,Head of the Department of English. Ms.K.Madhumitha  IIM.A spoke on ‘Orwell as an Anti-Totalitarian Thinker’,Mr.B.Rajkumar III BA gave a presentation on ‘Animal Farm as a Satire' .Ms R.Avantika IIIBA spoke on ‘The  Life and  Works of  Orwell', while Ms.M.Rajathi IIIBA gave a ‘Critical view on Orwell’s Works'. Finally Ms S.NithyaPriyadarshini III BA pointed out how Orwell was a practising socialist , always with the poor ,though he took an anti-idealogical humanistic  stand  at the close of his career. Ms.S.Sasteeka III BA ,compered the programme, Ms.K.Madhumitha IIMA welcomed the participants and Ms R.Jainab Uthaitha  IIIBA proposed the Vote of Thanks.

International Yoga day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at J.J. College of

Arts and Science (Autonomous), Sivapuram, Pudukkottai on 21.06.2023 (Wednesday).

The Departments of Physical Education, Computer Applications and Microbiology

organized a workshop on Yogic Practices – a Bulwark against a sedentary life style.

The resource person Yogacharrya R.Yoga Pandian, Founder Aathma Yoga Centre,

Pudukkottai pointed out how the majority of the population have little time for Physical

Exercises. An over busy routine and the live of the Media have robbed us of all healthy

habits. Nationally we have to practice Yoga as a therapy to keep fit Physically, Mentally,

Intellectually and Spiritually. The world has realized a need for Yoga. Even convalescing

patients are given yogic exercises in sophisticated hospitals. In many States Yoga has

become a part of in School and College Curriculum. The Yoga Center has become an

Integral Part of Sports Infrastructure. So, Students and Teachers should become Yoga

practitioners and take the message to the Rural Population.

Earlier Dr.S.Sathish Aaron Joseph, Head, Department of Computer Applications

welcomed the Resource Person and Audience Dr.K.Jagathis Babu, Head, Department of

Physical Education, Introduced the Chief Guest. Dr.P.Jeevan, Head, Department of

Microbiology honored the guest with a shawl.

Ms.P.Cathorine Joy Selvakumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical

Education proposed the vote of thanks. The students eagerly participated in the

Demonstration and Practice.
