International Yoga day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at J.J. College of
Arts and Science (Autonomous), Sivapuram, Pudukkottai on 21.06.2023 (Wednesday).
The Departments of Physical Education, Computer Applications and Microbiology
organized a workshop on Yogic Practices – a Bulwark against a sedentary life style.
The resource person Yogacharrya R.Yoga Pandian, Founder Aathma Yoga Centre,
Pudukkottai pointed out how the majority of the population have little time for Physical
Exercises. An over busy routine and the live of the Media have robbed us of all healthy
habits. Nationally we have to practice Yoga as a therapy to keep fit Physically, Mentally,
Intellectually and Spiritually. The world has realized a need for Yoga. Even convalescing
patients are given yogic exercises in sophisticated hospitals. In many States Yoga has
become a part of in School and College Curriculum. The Yoga Center has become an
Integral Part of Sports Infrastructure. So, Students and Teachers should become Yoga
practitioners and take the message to the Rural Population.
Earlier Dr.S.Sathish Aaron Joseph, Head, Department of Computer Applications
welcomed the Resource Person and Audience Dr.K.Jagathis Babu, Head, Department of
Physical Education, Introduced the Chief Guest. Dr.P.Jeevan, Head, Department of
Microbiology honored the guest with a shawl.
Ms.P.Cathorine Joy Selvakumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical
Education proposed the vote of thanks. The students eagerly participated in the
Demonstration and Practice.
