The Department of Physics, J.J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Pudukkottai arranged a special lecture programme on Wednesday 20.07.2022. Dr. M. Kumaresavanji Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator, Nanomaterials Laboratory, Department of Physics, National College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, TN.
Dr. M. Kumaresavanji delivered a speech on Physics behind the Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is the leading applied science of 21st century and has gained immense attention due to their ability to construct smaller size gadgets. It brings revolutionary changes in the field of life sciences including drug delivery, diagnostics and production of biomaterials.
Nanotechnology is employed in almost all the field of research to have potential applications. Nanoparticles are the essential building blocks of nanotechnology due to their fascinating properties like small size, shape, large specific surface area, crystalline structure etc.
Nanostructured materials can possess improved properties when compared to their bulk counterparts. The large surface to volume ratio of nanostructures leads to dramatic changes in their physical properties.
These properties can be interpreted from the Physics principles. Dr. M.K. Murali, Head and Assistant Professor of Physics, presided over the meeting. Sri Vaishnavi R. Ragi Krishna and R. Hima , II M.Sc. Physics welcomed the gathering and A. Hemalatha, M. Kavya, B. Bhavani, M. Madhumitha, and D. Kanimozhi, III B.Sc. Physics proposed the vote of thanks.
