The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of J.J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Pudukkottai, organized a Two Day National Conference on Recent Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics (NCRTPAM 2018) on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11th and 12th September, 2018.
Inaugurating the National Conference, Dr.S.Sreenadh, FAPAS (Fellow, A.P.Academy Sciences) Coordinator, UGC-SAP-DRS-I, Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, Dean, University Development, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh, paid a glowing tribute to the Management and praised the College as having the appearance of a Deemed University. He recollected his Gurus with great reverence and respect, who groomed him as a great mathematician. He applied mathematical principles to day-today happenings. Later on, he addressed the participants at the First Plenary Session on Mathematical Modelling of Biofluid Flows. He pointed out that Mathematical formulae are not mere abstractions but they are applied in different fields such as Geology, Industry and Engineering. He stressed that the unsolved problems can be solved by Mathematics. He explained in detail how blood flows in our body on the basis of Mathematical Principle.
Delivering the Presidential Address, Dr. Kavitha Subramanian, Trustee, Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust, classified people into three different groups – those who watch things happen, those who wonder at things happen and those who make things happen. She praised the Department of Mathematics as makers. Further classifying the students into four Groups – one the deadlog, two the workhorses, the third problem children and finally the stars. Madam appealed to the students to raise themselves as stars by achieving capacity and by means of actual performance.
The Chief Guest released the Souvenir brought out by the Department of Mathematics containing a number of articles by Research Scholars. Madam Trustee received the First copy.
Welcoming the large gathering Dr. J.Parasuraman, Principal asked the participants to make maximum use of the Conference because eminent mathematicians would address them on recent topics of Applied Mathematics. He asked them to share their views, to acquire latest development and to be prepared for future research.
Prof. S.M.Sakthimohan, Head, Department of Mathematics, proposed the vote of thanks for the Inaugural Session.
