Siddha Diet and Nutrition for Healthy life






The Sumner's club of Biochemistry as part of 6th National Siddha Day Celebration, organized an Awareness Programme on "Siddha Diet and Nutrition for Healthy life" on 12/01/2023 in the Government School located at Attangudi post, Pudukkottai. Dr. S. KANITHA, Head of the Department of Biochemistry welcomed the gathering. Mr. P. Palaniappan and Dr. M. Sathuvan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry gave a detailed talk on the importance of Siddha medicine. The word Siddha is derived from a Tamil word Siddhi which means achievement or perfection.

The Siddha medicinal system not just focuses on treating the disease but it also takes into account the patient behaviour, environmental aspects, age, habits and physical condition. Also they outlined the medicinal value of the food items that are used daily in our home. They encouraged the students to take healthy diet for maintaining good health besides avoiding junk foods which would deteriorate the health condition of individuals. Students were made aware of the Ayush System of medicine which had greatly helped the Nation's frontline line workers during Covid - 19 with mild infections in building up the immunity against the corona virus and siddha system and other Indian systems can be boasted of India's gift to the medical world.

The students were encouraged to make use of the herbs available in their kitchen garden rather that taking up pills from medical shops frequently. The queries arisen by the students were answered. Finally plant saplings with medicinal value were distributed among the students and the faculty members of the school.
