The Departments of Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Applications of J.J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) – A Silver Jubilee Institution – Sivapuram, Pudukkottai organised a Two Day International Conference on Contemporary Trends in Computer Science (CTCS – 2K19) on 6th and 7th September, 2019. Students and Research Scholars from various Sister Institutions participated in the Conference in large number.
Dr. J.Chockalingam, Member Syndicate, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, inaugurated the Conference. He pointed out that the main aim of the conference was to motivate the students to go for Research activity. Since Ph.D. forms the highest degree, the scholars have to publish papers in reputed journals. The problem in Papers and Thesis relates to Plagiarism. If that is found, both the guide and the candidate are in soup. So students have to be careful regarding the problem of plagiarism. He appealed to the participants to do hard work and work well. He encouraged the students stating that IT industry in our country and all over the world attracts them all and they need not have any fear over the future prosperity. He congratulated the organisers of the conference for arranging an uphill task.
In his Presidential Address, Dr. J.Parasuraman, Principal, stated that Computer Course is in constant demand. He narrated the success story of Infosys, Bangalore. When asked by a Press Reporter Mr. Narayana Moorthy, who had been its CEO for two decades and who is its Chair Person Emeritus, revealed the secret of the success of the IT Company which earns 2000 crores a year. There are two reasons. One is the feedback. Infosys was open to the feedback both positive and negative. How could the negative be erased? Infosys started an Institute, first of its kind in India, for Leadership Training. Erasing ego, the seniors stat along with the juniors listening to the eminent juniors, taking notes. Students should learn a lesson from this success story. He concluded his Address emphasising the benefits of the conference such as acquiring knowledge, developing academic reputation, Group Discussion, Presentation Skills, etc.
In his Special Address, Mr. Ayyappan Subhas Chandran, I.T.Solution Architect, Hybrid Cloud, IBM, Netherlands, stressed that students should update their skills since C.S.Technical field proceeds with rocket speed.
Welcoming the large gathering, Dr. R.Manimaran, Head, Information Technology, requested the participants to make maximum use of the Conference since eminent Resource Persons would deliver lectures on various topics.
Proposing vote of thanks, Dr. S.Sudha, Vice-Principal and Head, Department of Computer Science expressed gratitude to all starting from God, the Almighty, passing on to the Secretary and Trustee, then to the Principal and then to the staff both teaching and administrative and student volunteers.
