The Sumner's club of the Department of Biochemistry, J.J. College of Arts and Science was organized a special Free Blood Grouping Camp at Thekkattur village, Pudukkottai Dt, associated with Social Agriculture Children's Education & Women Development Trust (SACEWD Trust), Pudukkottai.

In August presence of the President of Thekkattur Grama Panchayat Thirumathi.S.Muthulakhsmi and people of the camp was started at 10:00 am on 11.12.2021 (Saturday). Dr. S. Kanitha, Head, Department of Biochemistry, welcomed the gathering. More than 100 numbers of the village people participated and screened their blood samples. Similarly 20 girl students have volunteered for the identification of blood grouping.

Mrs. V. Raghavi, Assistant professor of the Biochemistry Department spoke, about an incredible and the essential components of our blood. She also, explained about the most important reason why should we know our blood type and that act as the preliminary check-up of an emergency need as following an accident, surgery, blood typing for pregnant women and it also done prior to a blood transfusion or when classifying a person's blood for blood donation.

The Faculty members of the Department of Biochemistry Dr. C. Arunmathi & Dr. A.S.Vijayakumar have given instructions to the students for ascertaining the participants blood group. Finally, B.Sc Biochemistry III Year student S.Kayalvizhi gave vote of thanks.
