The 22nd Graduation Day of J.J. College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Sivapuram, Pudukkottai, was celebrated with all colour and gaiety in the morning of Sunday, 6th January, 2019. Dr. N.Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, Karaikudi, distributed degrees to 1201 Students who have passed U.G., P.G. and M.Phil. Examinations held in April, 2018. The function was well attended by parents of the students in large number.
Delivering the Graduation Day Address, the Chief Guest asserted the need for education in one’s life because it is a door to knowledge and wisdom. Mere accumulation of information is not enough. Everyman must possess values of life. The speaker quoted the words of Swami Vivekanandha that we need man making education. He told the graduates that they should be grateful to their parents and to their teachers. They must serve the society with the help of their education. They should become good citizens and good human beings. They should have lofty dreams which must become reality in their life. They should make use of every moment for their personal betterment and for the welfare of the society. They should be associated with such friends who support them in realising their ideals. Concluding his address, he asked the graduates to become entrepreneurs themselves.
Presenting the Report Dr. J.Parasuraman, Principal, stressed the strength of the College to be 5085 students with 51 Programmes. He underlined the attainment of ‘A’ Grade in the Third Cycle also of NAAC and the Extension of Autonomy for a period of five more years upto 2022 – 2023.
Dr. Kavitha Subramanian, Trustee, Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust welcomed the students and their parents in rhyming poetry.
Thiru N.Subramanian, Secretary, started the proceedings of the Graduation Day.
The new graduates took a pledge to keep up the honour and dignity of the College and to serve the nation and the society in days to come.
